How I Won Airfare Tickets to Singapore

It was a lazy and hot Saturday afternoon when Bam asked me if I could accompany him in buying clothes for a special family something something. At the same time, I saw this tweet by Patty Laurel:

So I said yes to Bam and told him that we should head to Megamall instead of Trinoma. I was so excited because 1) I get to go to a place with centralized aircon, 2) I get to shop with a friend and 3) I get to have fun and see Patty Laurel. Sounds like an amazing afternoon, right? When we arrived at the activity center, this is what we saw:

Yes! That is the lovely Bianca Velerio who was a very charming host that day. Sorry I forgot the name of the male emcee. He looks familiar though. I was actually surprised that there is a whole show because I thought that it's just going to be a meet and greet or something to that effect (effect daw?). At this point, the duo are introducing a game sponsored by Tiger Airways.

They were discussing how the game is going to be. Basically, the contestants need to stick as many sticky notes as possible to the Tiger Airway logos in 10 seconds and voila! The fastest one will win 2 tickets to Singapore. It sounds easy so I told Bam that I would volunteer. Apparently, a staff heard me so she asked me if I want to join. I said yes!

Superficial realization on stage: Why of all days did I not put make-up today? Haha! And my top makes me look larger than I usually am. Alright, enough of that. They interviewed us one by one regarding our strategy. I just said I will go as fast as I can. I was really nervous, you know. These are the other contestants:

The other girl did really well. She was able to post 14 sticky notes in 10 seconds. What a feat! It made me even more nervous. Apparently, my nerves were obvious because Bianca told me that I look so nervous. Haha! If I can only say "I don't feel any pressure right now" ala Janina San Miguel. But I was, so I nodded. You see, I was scouring several sites days earlier to find airfare sales because I wanted to go to Singapore or Malaysia. Now, I have the opportunity to get them for free. I guess I was pressuring myself. Haha! The result? I posted like crazy in the 10 seconds given.

I waited anxiously on the side while Bianca counted the number of sticky notes I managed to post. I smiled when I heard her say 15..or was it 16? All I can remember was that I exceeded the number of sticky notes posted by the earlier contestants. Wohoo! I just won 2 tickets to Singapore!

When I went down the stage, a kind lady from Tiger Airways approached me and explained to me how to use the voucher I won. She also took photos of me. I think it's for proof to her company that they really gave away the ticket voucher.

Then, the beautiful Denise Congco, Marketing Manager of Watson's Philippines, approached me. She was so bubbly and amiable.

She asked me how I knew about the event, and I told her that I read it from Patty Laurel's tweet. I added that I am a big fan of Patty Laurel, so I decided to watch the show to see her. What happened next was beyond my expectations. Denise asked if I wanna see Patty, and of course I said yes! With a giddy voice if I may add. I was ecstatic! First I won airfare tickets to Singapore, and then I was being led to the waiting room where Patty is. I was in euphoria.

I look like her PA :p Note to self: dress more chio next time.

It was so embarrassing because I was all giddy while talking to her. I just could not believe how lucky I was. As usual, The Patty was sweet, humble and beautiful. She had her make-up professionally done that day, but she managed to still look natural. Almost as if she is not wearing any. As Bam puts it, Patty has a very special radiance to her countenance. The fan girl in me almost passed out because she remembered me from the Nuffnang event. Hmm..I wonder if that was a good thing. Perhaps she's now thinking that I am a stalker. Haha! To make things clear, I am not one who would go to mall shows nor go gaga over a celebrity (well, David Archuleta and Gackt are exceptions). But Patty is different. She was the one who inspired me to start blogging. She is intelligent, kind, God-fearing and most of all, she touches so many lives. Sorry for the melodrama. Anyway, there were other fun games in the program like this one:

Blind-folded ladies should gather as much stickers as they can from the bodies of these Cosmolicious hunks

Forever21 also showcased their Spring/Summer Collection which was vibrant and colorful.

Ian Batherson serenading the audience during the fashion show

Then finally, it was time for the Watson's brand ambassadors and ambassadress to take the stage. Go Patty!

We did not know that Kelly Misa would be there. Bam and I like her. I like her since her Candy mag days.

Patty sharing why she switched to Watsons and how she saved.

We left the event after Kelly Misa spoke because, well, we still have some shopping and eating to do. Nevertheless, it was a memorable experience I would never forget because Tiger Airways, Watsons and Cosmo made 2 of my dreams come true all in one day. Thank you! Of course, to Patty, I would never have went there had I not read your tweet. So thank you as well.

With Love,
N
